The 2015 running of the Grade 1, All American Derby now has an estimated purse of $2.3 million, up $400,000 from the 2014 purse.
There are 313 two-year-olds currently eligible for the 2015 All American Derby. The next All American Derby supplemental payment opportunity is on February 1, 2015 and is $30,000.
“The All American Derby is the premier quarter horse derby and this increase over last year shows the horsemen’s support that we truly appreciate,” said Ruidoso Downs’ general manager Shaun Hubbard. “This year’s All American Derby, once again, will be a race which impacts championship voting.”
Racing integrity is the highest priority at Ruidoso Downs. Next summer, there will be “super testing,” pre-race testing, an extensive video surveillance system, off-site testing in cooperation with the New Mexico State Police and all horses must be in the Ruidoso barn area 10 days before running in the trials of each of the Ruidoso Grade 1 futurities and derbies. They must remain on the grounds until the finals are contested.
