Lovethewayyoulie Stands Out In John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Trials

Amanda Greer

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (July 11, 2014) – Conda Maze and Tyler Graham’s Heritage Place Futurity winner Lovethewayyoulie, the third-ranked horse in the weekly AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com national poll, stands out in the seven trials to the $62,370 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge on Friday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

First post time is 1 p.m. and Lovethewayyoulie races in the seventh trial, which is the ninth race.

Lovethewayyoulie held on to win the Grade 1, $1,020,980 Heritage Place Futurity by a nose at Remington Park on May 31, her most recent race. Therefore, the 350-yard distance of the John Deere suits the daughter of Tempting Dash.

The Toby Keeton-trained Lovethewayyoulie showed potential at Sam Houston Race Park back in April when she was second in the $50,000 Sam Houston Juvenile.

Lovethewayyoulie has the same sire and connections as the number-one two-year-old Kiss My Hocks.

Cody Jensen, who rode Lovethewayyoulie to victory in the Heritage Place Futurity, retains the mount with the eighth post position.

Phillip Brassfield’s Vod Kanockers also makes his Ruidoso Downs debut after closing out his Remington Park season with a stakes win. The Ty Blackwell-trained gelding took the $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes for Oklahoma-breds by a neck. In his previous start, the Stoli son won his maiden by two lengths.

G.R. Carter Jr. has the mount on Vod Kanockers with the fifth post position in the second trial.

Norma Reyes’ Smoke On The Water took the $45,980 AQRA Spring Futurity at Turf Paradise and comes off a win in the Grade 3, $105,000 Four Corners Futurity through a disqualification.

The winner of three of four starts is in the fifth trial. Trainer Jose Luis Varga has named Efrain Vigi to ride Smoke On The Water from the fourth post position.
