RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (July 13, 2014) – Rocky Gulch, the first New Mexico-bred millionaire, who is now a retired 13-year-old returned to Ruidoso Downs on Sunday to headline the Family Day activities.
The Barbra Brown-owned gelding enjoyed his visitors, especially when they were feeding him grapes.
Rocky Gulch was the only horse inducted into the Ruidoso Downs Racehorse Hall of Fame this year.
The gelding, who raced for Larry Teague, won 18 of 38 starts, including 14 stakes wins against New Mexico-breds. The gelding won all of his five starts at Ruidoso Downs, including setting a five-furlong track record as a two-year-old while winning the Rio Grande Senor Futurity. That record still stands.
