RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (July 12, 2014) – The Todd Fincher stable will be very well represented in the $198,975 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity and the $154,380 Rio Grande Senor Futurity during the Zia Festival during the final weekend on July.
In Saturday’s trials for each race for two-year-old New Mexico-breds, Fincher horses stood out. He qualified five fillies for the Senorita Futurity and five horses in the Senor Futurity for males.
The Zia Festival offers more than $1 million in purses for New Mexico-breds on July 26-27.
Fincher swept the top-two spots in four races.
In the second Senor Futurity trial, Born A Ruler raced to a two-and-three-quarter-length win over 1-5 favorite Lux. Born A Ruler was second in the Totah Futurity at SunRay Park in his previous start. Lux came off a win in the $156,000 Mountain Top Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. Both horses were well in hand crossing the finish line.
Fincher also swept the top-two spots in the third Senor trial with Glide Path and Raider Red. Glide Path was making just his second start while Raider Red won the colt division of the Copper Top Futurity.
In the third Senorita trial, Fincher ran one-two when Diabolical Dame scored a three-and-three-quarter-length win over Be My Angel. Diabolical Dame was sent off as the 3-5 favorite after seconds in the filly division of the Copper Top Futurity and the Mountain Top Futurity.
In the fourth and final Senorita trial, Fincher again took the top two spots. Kendrick Memorial winner Missing reba raced to her third-straight win while defeating first-time starter Hello Texas.
The remaining Fincher trained Senorita qualifier is Twixy Roll.
The other Fincher horse in the Senor is Roll On Red Raider.
