Official rules Dr. Pepper Handicapping Challenge:

On-track only, live money handicapping contest with the following prize payout:

1st Place: $500 betting voucher and 15 cases (“Year’s Supply”) of Dr. Pepper
2nd Place: $250 betting voucher and 2 cases of Dr. Pepper
3rd Place: $100 betting voucher and 2 cases of Dr. Pepper.
4th Place: $50 voucher and 1 case of Dr. Pepper
5th Place: $50 voucher and 1 case of Dr. Pepper

This is a live wager contest. The account balance at the conclusion of the event determines the winner. All remaining funds in the contest account at the conclusion of the event remain the property of the player.

Contest will be conducted Saturday, June 8th

a. Mandatory Contest Races include 4 races (Races 6-9) from Ruidoso Downs plus the Belmont
Stakes simulcast from Belmont Park, NY. Five total contest races must be wagered to remain
eligible for any prize. Players must wager at least $10 per race.
b. Ruidoso Downs First live post time on June 8th is scheduled to be at 1 p.m.
c. Estimated post time for first contest race (#6) is at approximately 3 p.m.
d. Post time for the Belmont Stakes is scheduled at approximately 4:30 p.m MST.

Contest Rules. The Dr. Pepper Handicapping Challenge is governed by these rules. It is the responsibility of each contest player to understand and abide by the official rules. Failure to comply with any of the rules may result in disqualification of the entry at the sole discretion of Ruidoso Downs Race Track officials. Ruidoso Downs Race Track has the right to make any decisions regarding the rules and all decisions are final. Ruidoso Downs Race Track reserves the right to deny any entry into the contest for any lawful reason whatsoever.

1. Following are ineligible to participate in Dr. Pepper Handicapping Challenge: Any Ruidoso Downs mutuel employee, any jockeys, trainers, racing officials, any staff on duty on June 8th, or immediate family of any Ruidoso employee on duty June 8th.
2. All contest players must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older before June 8, 2019.
3. All wagers must be placed through designated, self-service, tote machines, located throughout the facility and marked by signage as “Contest Terminal”; or through a track-issued, wireless wagering tablet. Wagers will not be accepted through mutuel tellers. The self-service machines do not print out wagering vouchers. However, previous wagers can be reviewed on the self-service machines. Players must place all wagers personally. No person shall directly or indirectly act as an intermediary, transmitter or agent in placing wagers for the player, unless expressly authorized by Ruidoso Contest Officials. Official track rulings will apply to wagers and Contest scoring is based on official mutuel payoffs. If a player wagers on a track other than the designated races for purposes of the contest, the player will be subject to disqualification.

4. Contest Format and procedure:
a) Each player must purchase a “Dr. Pepper Betting Card” from a Ruidoso Downs Race Track
mutual attendant for $60. Each paid entry will contribute $10 to the prize pool. LIMIT TWO (2)
b) Each player’s “Betting Card” will have a bankroll of $50 at the beginning of the contest.
c) Each player MUST use their “Dr. Pepper Betting Card” exclusively for wagers associated with
the Dr. Pepper Handicapping Challenge.
d) There are five (5) mandatory betting races in the Dr. Pepper Handicapping Challenge:
1. Ruidoso Downs race 6 ($10 minimum wager required)
2. Ruidoso Downs race 7($10 minimum wager required)
3. Ruidoso Downs race 8 ($10 minimum wager required)
4. Ruidoso Downs race 9 ($10 minimum wager required)
5. Belmont Park Race 11 is the Belmont Stakes ($10 minimum wager required)
e) Advance Wagering: Advance wagering is not permitted. Wagers must be placed after the
immediately prior contest race has been declared official. This rule is designed to maintain an
accurate leader-board. If a player needs to advance wager for any reason, please contact a
Contest official. Contest Officials will decide if an advance wager will affect the integrity of the
leader-board. All decisions of the Contest Officials are final and penalties for violating this rule
will be at the sole discretion Contest Officials.
f) Each player may wager only the following pools: Win, Place, Exacta. Any wagers made from the contest card into any other pool will disqualify the entry with no refund.
g) Each player must wager a minimum of $10 on each of the four Ruidoso Downs races in the
handicapping challenge, and a minimum wager of $10 is required for the Belmont Stakes. No
h) Players may wager any amount above the $10 minimum on any of the above named races
provided the wager.
i) In the event a player card reaches a zero balance before the entry is thereby eliminated from
contention. No player may add money to his/her contest account.
j) Any remaining funds on the contest card must be cashed-out at a mutuel window by the player assigned to that contest card at the conclusion of the contest.
k) The official results of each contest race will determine the outcome of the contest.
l) The player that accumulates the most money on their “Dr. Pepper Betting Card” at the end of
the five (5) races will be declared the winner of the Dr. Pepper Handicapping Challenge and
receive $500 cash plus 15 cases of Dr. Pepper product.
m) The top 5 account balances at the conclusion of the 5 races will be paid per the aforementioned schedule.
n) In the event two or more account balances in the top 5 are identical, the payout for the
identical positions will be combined and shared equally among those finishers.
o) Scratches/Non-Starters: If a horse is scratched after a wager is placed, it is the player’s
responsibility to change his/her selection prior to the race subject to all other contest wagering
rules. In the event a player is not able to change his/her selection due to a gate scratch or late
scratch (within 5 minutes to post) which prohibits the player from wagering the minimum
amount of races or minimum daily total on Saturday or Sunday, the player will not be assessed
a penalty for such particular action (but still may be subject to penalties in the future) for falling short of the Challenge wagering rules assuming he/she had placed wagers on the specific
scratched horse and those wagers would have surpassed minimum per race requirements. No
penalties will be assessed on wagers involving any horses ruled as non-starters by stewards. It is the sole responsibility of the player to change their wagers as needed in the event of a scratch. A scratch will be treated as a non-starter and a refund will be offered. It remains the
responsibility of the player to have wagered the minimum $10 on every race.
p) A leader board will be displayed on the television system during the contest listing the top 20
account balances identified by their account number or by a nickname provided during
registration. Balances will be updated after each official race. All standings are unofficial until
the final results are audited. Players are encouraged to maintain an accurate record of their
wagers and scoring.
q) IRS Withholding: For any wager that triggers IRS withholding, the withholding amount will be
automatically deducted from the player’s bankroll. For contest scoring purposes, withholding is
not added back into the player’s score.

Each participant acknowledges and expressly agrees that AARD LLC, through its management, shall have the sole and exclusive right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to the Contest and all decisions of AARD shall be final and binding and by entering each participant waives and forever relinquishes any and all claims for damage or recourse of any kind or nature whatsoever, whether legal, equitable or otherwise. All questions not covered in these rules shall be decided by AARD management with those decisions to be final and binding on all participants. AARD reserves the right to amend the rules and change, alter or cancel the Contest at any time. If for any reason there is a cancellation in racing on Saturday, June 8, 2019, the contest may be based on the races completed during the event or substitute races may be assigned by AARD.

All players must make their own selections independently of every other player in the contest. Participants are prohibited from coordinating their selections with other players, such as two or more players coordinating multiple bankrolls wagering on one particular race and covering several different horses in a pattern that would be viewed as an unfair advantage. If AARD concludes, in their sole and absolute discretion: (1) a player engaged in or attempted to engage in any act that compromises or could compromise the competitive integrity of the Contest; (2) tampered with or attempted to tamper with the betting process and/or operation of the Contest or any player; (3) acted in an unsportsmanlike manner or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, coerce or harass any other player, such player will be subject to sanctions imposed by AARD management that may include, but shall not be limited to the following: forfeiture of prizes; disqualification from the contest; loss of privilege to participate in future contests; or expulsion from AARD property. Players with two entries are permitted to play the entries in their own names in any way they wish.
