Original nominations to six New Mexico-bred stakes and sustaining payments to the three Grade 1 derbies run at Ruidoso Downs are due on October 1.
The six New Mexico-bred stakes races are the $375,000 (est.) Zia Futurity, $350,000 (est.) Mountain Top Quarter Horse Futurity and $175,000 (est.) Zia Derby for quarter horses and the $150,000 Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity, $125,000 Rio Grande Senor Futurity and the $125,000 Senorita Futurity for thoroughbreds.
Also on October 1, are sustaining payments to the three derbies and the two new oaks races set for summer, 2020 at Ruidoso Downs.
The two new oaks races are the Rainbow Oaks and the All American Oaks. They are for fillies that maintain eligibility to the Rainbow Derby and the All American Derby. Then, at entry time, each filly’s connections can opt to run in the Derby against males or the Oaks against fillies.
The October 1 payment is $600 for the $1-million (est.) All American Derby or the All American Oaks, $500 for the $1-million Rainbow Derby or Rainbow Oaks and $500 for the $850,000 Ruidoso Derby.
Upcoming on November 15 are sustaining and supplemental payments to the three Grade 1 futurities at Ruidoso Downs. For the $3-million (est.) All American Futurity, there is a $700 sustaining payment or a $3,500 supplemental payment. For the $1-million (est.) Rainbow Futurity, there is a $600 sustaining payment or a $2,500 supplemental payment. For the $1-million (est.) Ruidoso Futurity, there is a $600 sustaining payment or a $2,500 supplemental payment.
