WHISTLE STOP CAFÉ TO RETIRE FOLLOWING ALL AMERICAN OAKS APPEARANCE ON SUNDAY

AQHA Reigning World Champion Whistle Stop Café will be retired following her appearance on Sunday in the $439,884 All American Oaks according to her owner Lainie Whitmire of Whitmire Ranch.

“We want to bring her home to the ranch after the All American,” Whitmire said. “We love her very much and want to give her a good home for the rest of her life.”

The three-year-old filly would retire as an undefeated champion with a victory on Sunday. She has nine consecutive wins and earnings of $2,141,819, including a trip to the winner’s circle in last season’s $3 Million All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs.

“She has nothing left to prove on the race track and so we all agreed that we wanted her last race to be in the All American,” Whitmire said.

Whistle Stop Café has become a fan favorite at Ruidoso Downs for her track performances the past two seasons. This weekend, fans are purchasing “fan club” pink t-shirts with her image.

“We would like to say thank you to all her fans,” Whitmire said. “This has been a thrilling ride from the beginning, and we hope that one day she will have some sons and daughters that might compete here in a few years.”

The All American Oaks is the tenth race on the twelve-race card on Sunday that also features the $929,225 All American Derby. First post is scheduled for noon.
