(Ruidoso Downs, NM) Jingle Wood, a two-year-old New Mexico-bred, withstood a sloppy race track and easily won the eighth race by four-lengths during trials for the $350.000 Moutain Top Futurity today at Ruidoso Downs.
It was the first win for the gelding in three starts having finished runner-up in the $50,000 New Mexico Spring Fling at Sunland Park on April 25. Jingle Wood is owned by Chris and Melody Lykins and trained by Clint Crawford.
“The two outs at Sunland really helped the horse,” Crawford said. “He walked into the paddock today and was very professional about everything.”
Jingle Wood is sired by Woodbridge out of the mare Ms Jingles by Bigtime Favorite. The gelding paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.40 in the fastest time of the day of 17.608 seconds for 350-yards.
The finals of the Mountain Top Futurity will be run on Sunday, June 15.
