Da Edge of Gray Wins $50,000 Jess Burner Stakes At Ruidoso Downs Racetrack

(Ruidoso Downs,NM) Da Edge of Gray, a four-year-old gelding, held off a late-charging Jesses Wish to win the $50,000 Jess Burner Stakes by a nose today at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack.
With jockey Joe Belloc Jr. on board, the gelding covered 400-yards in 19.616 seconds to win for the third consecutive start. Da Edge of Gray went off at 8-1 odds to pay $18.20, $6.60 and $4.20.
Sired by Big Daddy Cartel out of the mare Da Edge by Separatist, the gelding is owned by Rex Wells and trained by James Gonzales III.
The stakes race is named in honor of the late Jess Burner, a New Mexico cattleman, rancher and horseman who served as President of the Ruidoso/Sunland Corporation and Ruidoso Downs Jockey Club. Today marked the 27th running of the Jess Burner Stakes.
