Ruidoso Downs Owner Johnny Trotter Double-Entered in $1 Million Rainbow Futurity

(Albuquerque, NM) Cartel Cowgirl 123 and Think Twice Perry, both two-year-old quarter horses raised by Ruidoso Downs Racetrack owner Johnny Trotter, will be in the starting gate for Sunday’s Grade-1 $1 million Rainbow Futurity at the Downs of Albuquerque.
Cartel Cowgirl 123 was fastest to qualify on Friday, June 26 with a time of 19.625 seconds for 400-yards. The qualifying race was the first-ever attempt for the filly who will be ridden by jockey Joseph Belloc Jr. as number-four in the final.
Think Twice Perry, a gelding, will be number-ten on the outside with jockey Edwin Escobedo aboard. He qualified on Saturday, June 27 with the third-fastest time of the day, 19.661 seconds for 400-yards. Both quarter horses are trained by JJ Gonzales II.
Ask Her To Fly and jockey Ramiro Garcia, fastest during the second day of trials, will be number-five in the race. The filly’s qualifying time was 19.573 seconds for 400-yards. The quarter horse’s owner is Randall Geiselman and trainer is Jason Olmstead. Ask Her To Fly finished third in the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity on June 7.

On Saturday at the Downs of Albuquerque, three-year-old quarter horses will compete in the $350,000 Rainbow Oaks for fillies and the $750,000 Rainbow Derby.
Fastest qualifier during the Derby trials was AQHA 2025 Champion two-year-old Political Twist, running 440-yards in 21.157 seconds. Luis Martinez will ride for trainer Daniel Amaya and owner Javier Rodriguez of La Feliz Montana Ranch in Hondo. The gelding will be number-five in the ninth race Saturday evening. Post time is scheduled for 9:25 p.m.
