TRIPLE CROWN REPORT Presented by:
King of the Tide Wins $3 Million All American Futurity
(Albuquerque, NM) King of the Tide, a two-year-old New Mexico-bred gelding, held off race favorite Political Twist by a neck to win the $3 million All American Futurity Monday at the Downs of Albuquerque.
“The horse seems to like Albuquerque,” jockey Ricky Ramirez said. “He got here and started looking and training good. He just peaked at the right time and everything just worked out on Labor Day.”
It was Ricky’s second All American victory having rode Whistle Stop Café to an All American victory in 2020, and the first win for trainer Trey Wood. The Wood family have now won four All Americans dating back to Trey’s grandfather Leo (1979) and his father Blane Wood (2018 and 2020).
King of the Tide won the All American in a winning time of 21.217 seconds and paid $10.80, $3.40 and $2.60. The gelding is sired by Eye Am King out of the mare Ms Riptide by Ocean Runaway. It was King of the Tide’s third career win in five starts for owners Gene Bradley, Tod Bradley and Ware Brown.
In the $1 million All American Derby for three-year-olds, FDD Dreams and jockey Luis Martinez raced home as the fan favorite to win in a time of 21.204 seconds for 440-yards. The gelding won by a half-length over stablemate Ariatt for La Feliz Montana Ranch.
“He’s a true champion and I knew he would run big today,” owner Javier Rodriguez said. Javier said in the winner’s circle that FDD Dreams would next head out to California for the Super Derby at Los Alamitos Race track in the fall.
FDD Dreams paid $3.40, $2.60 and $2.20 to win for the ninth time in fourteen career starts. The gelding is sired by FDD Dynasty out of the mare Treasured Dreams by Apollitical Jess and is approaching $2 million in career earnings. The New Mexico-bred (not accredited) is trained by Xavier Rodriguez.
The $700,000 All American Oaks for three-year-old fillies was won by Karmalites and jockey Luis Martinez at 9-1 odds, winning by three-fourths length in a 440-yard time of 21.091 seconds for owner Fabian Porras.
Karmalites paid $20.20, $13.40 and $7.80. The filly’s sire is The Marfa Lights out of the mare Cartel Karma by Corona Cartel. She has won seven career races in sixteen starts with earnings of nearly $700,000.
The $100,000 All American Juvenile Stakes for two-year-olds was won by Effortless Favorite and jockey Francisco Ramirez Jr. in a 440-yard time of 21.269 seconds by a nose over JC Speeding. The gelding has five career wins in six starts for owners Tom Maher, Richard Tobin and Bill Maher with earnings of over $400,000.
Effortless Favorite is sired by Favorite Cartel out of the mare Swingin Cartel by Corona Cartel. The gelding won the Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park in the spring and was a supplemental entry to the All American by Trainer Jason Olmstead.
In the $100,000 All America Invitational for three-year-olds, A Dream Fulfilled and jockey Jesse Levario was a half-length winner in a time of 21.242 seconds for owner Noel Rivera and trainer Ricardo Armendariz Jr., paying $17.60, $8.80 and $6.00.
The gelding is sired by Flying Cowboy 123 out of the mare Answer the Dream by Tres Seis. It was a second career win in seven races.
Jockey Luis Martinez, trainer Wes Giles and owner Javier Rodriguez won individual season championships for Ruidoso Downs in 2025 racing season.
