Gf Shes Sinful Wins $750,000 Ruidoso Derby Under the Lights At Downs of Albuquerque

(Albuquerque, NM) Gf Shes Sinful, a three-year-old filly, broke sharply from the rail and dominated the field in the $750,000 Ruidoso Derby at the Downs of Albuquerque in the first-ever quarter horse Triple Crown race held at night.

“I knew that as a two-year-old her problem was leaving the gates,” jockey Noe Garcia Jr. said in the winner’s circle. “I knew that if I could get along with her, she could get the hang of it.”

The filly is owned by All In Partners, a group of co-owners led by Ezra Lee and trained by Wes Giles. She is an Oklahoma-bred sired by Dulce Sin Tacha out of the mare Bf Fooserageous (Foose). It was a fifth win in six career attempts; her only loss came in the finals of the Texas Classic Futurity. Her earnings are approximately $400,000.

Gf Shes Sinful covered the 400-yards in 18.925 seconds and paid $4.40, $3.60 and $3.00 recording a 107-speed index. Trainer Wes Giles said a decision would be made about whether the filly will be entered in the mid-summer Rainbow Derby or Oaks.

Famous N Relentless and jockey Ramiro Garcia won the $100,000 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Invitational by a half-length in a time of 19.260 seconds for 400-yards.

“He broke great tonight,” trainer Jason Olmstead said in the winner’s circle. “Sometimes we worry whether he’s going to hold-on but nothing slowed him down this evening.”

Famous and Relentless is an Oklahoma-bred owned by Tom Maher and Amber Olmstead. The gelding’s sire is Hes Relentless out of the mare Tritoon (Tres Seis). The gelding has six wins in thirteen career starts with earnings of approximately $200,000.

Sunday’s races include the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity for two-year-old quarter horses at 350-yards. First post time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Downs of Albuquerque.
