TRIPLE CROWN REPORT Presented by:

GF SHES SINFUL TOP QUALIFIER IN RUIDOSO DERBY TRIALS

AT DOWNS OF ABQ

(Albuquerque, NM) Gf Shes Sinful, a two-year-old filly, won the fifth trial race by two-and-a-half lengths with the fastest time of the day, 18.987 seconds for 400-yards, to qualify for the $750,000 (est.) Ruidoso Derby for three-year-old quarter horses at the Downs of Albuquerque on Sunday.

Trained by Wes Giles and owned by All In Partners, the Oklahoma-bred won for the fourth time in five career races. The filly started for the first time since racing in the Texas Classic Futurity at Lone Star Park last November. Gf Shes Sinful is sired by Dulce Sin Tacha out of the mare Bf Fooserageous (Foose).

“The pressure is on leaving the gates with her,” Jockey Noe Garcia Jr. said. “She can be a little high-headed about leaving the gates. I knew she could do it if she broke well.”

Jockey Joseph Belloc Jr. qualified Flying Chance and Midnite Smokin by winning the first two trial races of the day for trainer James Gonzales III. Flying Chance had the second-fastest time of the day, 19.017 for 400-yards.

New Mexico Racing Stewards suspended trainer Eric Valenzuela on Sunday and scratched five quarter horses under his care that were scheduled to race in Sunday’s trials for the Ruidoso Derby. The stewards did not give an immediate reason for the suspension. A hearing about the matter is expected to be scheduled before the Board of Stewards in the near future.
