TRIPLE CROWN REPORT Presented by:

One Valiant Love Wins and Records Fastest Time In Day-Two Trials for Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs Race Track

One Valiant Love and jockey Francisco Calderon pulled away along the rail to win the 14 th trial race for the $1 Million Rainbow Futurity today at Ruidoso Downs Race Track, winning by a solid two lengths in the fastest time of the day, 19.741 seconds for 400-yards.

“My horse was fast from the start and kept rolling,” jockey Francisco Calderon said. “He got a little tired and we gave him a ride back to the barn, but he was all-out today.”

Calderon will have to make an important decision about which horse he will ride in the finals of the Rainbow Futurity on July 16 having qualified three of the ten finalists including One Valiant Love and two from yesterday’s trials, Dark NME and Trane Station V.

“I’ll be working with the trainers and connections and will be able to see how they all come back before making any decisions,” Calderon said. One Valiant Love is owned by Dunn Ranch and trained by Monty Arrossa. The gelding is sired by One Valiant Hero out of the mare Echoes of Love by One Famous Eagle. The gelding won for the third time in four starts including a win in the Heritage Place Juvenile at Remington Park on June 3.

Bettors backed One Valiant Love at less than even-money as the gelding returned $3.80, $3.40 and $2.80. The other quarter horses that qualified for the final of the Rainbow Futurity include: Midnight Politics and jockey Edwin Escobedo, winner of the 7 th trial in 19.805 seconds; Rayenare and jockey Esgar Ramirez, who won the 11 th trial in 19.851 seconds; Asscher and jockey Christian Ramos, winner of the 12 th trial in 19.854 seconds; and King Apache and jockey Eduardo Nicasio, who won the 9 th trial in 19.872 seconds.

Racing continues on Sunday at Ruidoso Downs with trials for the $480,000 (est) Rainbow Oaks and $800,000 (est) Rainbow Derby for three-year-old quarter horses. Post time is Noon for the fifteen-race card.
