Tempting Lu Fastest in Day-Two Trials Of $3 million All American Futurity at Downs of ABQ

(Albuquerque,NM) Tempting Lu, a two-year-old filly, recorded the fastest time of the day during day-two trials for the $3 million All American Futurity at the Downs of Albuquerque by winning the fifth trial in a time of 20.999 seconds for 440-yards, defeating Jess a Bad Lil Cat that also qualified for the final to be run on Monday, Sept. 7.

With jockey Jose Enriquez aboard, Tempting Lu led throughout and finished a half-length in front to pay $7.00, $2.80 and $2.10. Tempting Lu is owned by Arturo Ibarra of Eagle Pass, Texas and trained by Omar Vargas.

“We are so happy with this filly,” Ibarra said. “We knew she was talented but we were surprised with the fastest time.” The owner of AA Farms, Ibarra had never qualified for the All American Futurity before today’s trials.

Tempting Lu finished runner-up in the West Texas Futurity at Sunland Park on April 4. The filly is sired by Tempting Dash out of the mare La Mos Chingono by Heza Fast Dash.

Flying Cowboys Candy, a two-year-old colt, won the second trial in a time of 21.032 seconds for 440-yards to also qualify for the final on September 7. Jockey Christian Cardenas picked up the mount riding the horse for the first time for trainer Tony Sedillo. Flying Cowboys Candy is sired by Flying Cowboy 123 out of the mare Candy Cartels Candy by Cartels Candy Man and paid $3.80, $3.20 and $2.80.

Ruidoso Downs Racetrack owner Johnny Trotter qualified for the All American Futurity final with two-year-old Think Twice Perry, winner of the thirteenth trial in a time of 21.120 seconds for 440-yards. The gelding was a one-length winner with jockey Edwin Escobedo aboard for trainer James Gonzales II paying $4.20, $2.20 and $2.10. Think Twice Perry finished second in the $1 million Rainbow Futurity on July 12 and is sired by Mr Jess Perry out of the mare Budder Think Twice by First Down Dash.
